| Commissioner & Ministers to launch European Higher Education Area |

Androulla Vassiliou, Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, will join Education Ministers from 46 European countries in Budapest today and in Vienna tomorrow to formally launch the 'European Higher Education Area' on the tenth anniversary of the Bologna Process for higher education reform. The Bologna Process, named after the Italian city in which it was launched in June 1999, put in motion a series of reforms to make European higher education more compatible, comparable, competitive and attractive for students.
The European Commission has funded a number of studies and reports on the impact of the Bologna Process which Ministers will discuss, including an independent assessment report and a comparative study on the Bologna reforms in the participating countries. To know more
