| European countries need to step up efforts to boost reading skills, study says |

One in five 15 year olds and many adults in Europe cannot read properly. A new study reveals improvements and what we are falling short. The study covers 31 countries. Some of the outcomes are that most policies are failing to target groups most at risk, like boys, children from disadvantaged households & migrant children. There is no one-size fits all solution. Researchs strongly supports the combined usage of several strategies for improvement, like using diversified material for reading, and addressment of reading skills through other subjects in the curriculum.
