Information & Communication Technology, also known as IT, opens up a perspective of educational renewal. Although often overestimated as innovation when the need for cultural change, accessibility and clear benefits is neglected. Remember the prediction of the radio or computer in the beginning resp. end of the 20 Century of some people, that these should replace teachers. But still only in the beginning of showing its potential for other ways of communicating and learning, b.e. if you realise that widespread email use started late '90's.
Area's which are located for ict to led to new ways of organising are:
* distant learning, the use of ict to communicate and instruct without borders of space.
* learning/tutorial software, the use of learning subjects via ict programs (especially for simple technique learning questions, especially simple drills, b.e. to speak out languages correct.
* cooperative learning, the use of ict/online platforms to work together in same subject/text (wiki, task sharing), which also supports international cooperation projects.
* reality gaming, to enclosure aspects of reality in order to learn, like reality puzzles in high culturel cities (via smartphone, sms e.f.)
* didactics of learning. To encompass other ways of learning, like learning from auditive and visual means to learn subjects and to do right to these ways of learning of pupils.
* taylor made education. Ict gives possibilities for teachers to give taylor made instructions and materials for pupils.
* role of teachers, whith information nearby, the role of the teachers changes in 3 ways: 1) role changing, in favour of guiding pupils in understanding, judge, constructing and deconstructing knowledge, 2), more neglected and tensioned by aspect 1, is the need for pupils to experience real personalised knowledge from teachers as humans, the reality and passion of personalised knowledge; 3) when it comes to complex skills, more expertise of the teachers to guide pupils in complex subjects.
* possibility for schools to engage and respond in real time, on activities/events in society which pupils know of.
* relation of school with their network, ict gives schools to communicate easier with their network, and to visualise/sum up their network in order to use their network better.
The areas for changing the work in schools, social innovation must also not unnotified. Social innovation covers the question of how we can innovate our organisation in a way that every coworker (in stead of employee) feels himself a co-owner of the work/service and can develop his contribution towards this service/product and organisation.
Sharing and developing learning materials
Another aspect of ICT which we will place here is the potential to share and develop learning materiales together. This is only in the beginning of its potential, on national assocation level, on national level as well as on international level. A very potential perspective, which also questions for another culture of didactics, is the enclosure of learning elements. In this way packages of learning course aspects can be opend up on detail level (easy tagging), which asks for teachers to comprehend the bigger route (learning targets) and bind them together. New technologys like the aquabrowser can help to use them. If you want to protect learning material so that it can be shared, remixed and reused use Creative Commons. A good example with validated digital educational material is: Connexions, a international cooperative project, look at http://cnx.org
